Lots of changes in the forums lately.
The SGB board has just moved, and become the ISGB. The new address is linked here. Lots of conflict around the ISGB lately. They seem to have become very dominant and inconsiderate in their behavior lately. I'm afraid their success has gone to their head a bit, as they have been heavily censoring many things on their board and doing some other things with a very heavy hand. Anything you post there may just disappear if it happens to displease those in power in any way and you may get roughed up a bit if you post. The archives there have a lot of valuable info.
I have to disagree with where the ISGB is going, those sorts of behaviors are absolute death to the creative spirit.
There is an alternative bead forum just getting started at wet canvas, which is just a great and very friendly art board overall. You'll find it under "glass art" there.
Brads' handmade glass board is the original furnace workers board. You can read the board without paying but it's well worth the $20 fee to be able to access the archives there. Brad is quite expert on things electrical pertaining to glass
the old Craftweb furnace glass board is back up with Pete Vanderlaan at the helm. Pete is a 30-40 year veteran furnace glassblower and very expert on batching and melting glass and glass color. All the bad things that happened there in the past are history, the board is very carefully run now. the link is down below.
Pipe making is always a controversial topic
in the glass community. I don't make pipes but
I do feel that it's a free country and
I believe the pipemakers should be allowed to do what they do without all
the harassment they get from other glass workers. I believe everyone has
to come to their own terms on what's right or wrong for them to do,as long
as they're not hurting others. So....the pipemakers board is here.
The pipemakers are much luckier than
all the other glass workers anyway, the "war on drugs" protects their market
here in the USA. No chinese knock-offs putting them out of business.
